Painting Made With Amy's Blood To Be Auctioned

Quote:
Yes, you read that headline correctly.
Rocker Pete Doherty is selling a portrait painted with his own blood and the blood of late singer Amy Winehouse at an auction later this week. It is expected to fetch at least £80,000 (approx. $129,000).
The painting, titled “Ladylike,” is purported to be an artistic depiction of Doherty’s one-time band The Libertines alongside a small self-portrait of Winehouse painted with her own blood.
“She was on the phone to her dad when she did that,” Doherty explained in a February interview with The Independent. “She said, ‘Dad, I’m with Pete and he’s making me draw with my blood!’ He didn’t like me much, her dad.”
“There’s been furious interest in this piece from collectors wanting to own a real piece of Amy,” an anonymous source tells The Sun.
The painting was likely created using a technique Doherty calls “arterial splatter,” in which he squirts blood from a syringe onto a canvas. Earlier this year, the oft-troubled 33-year-old rocker-***-artist presented a collection of his bloody creations in an exhibition called “On Blood: A Portrait of the Artist.”
“Ladylike” will be auctioned May 11th at the Cob Gallery in Camden, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Other items belonging to Doherty including lyric books, guitars and military jackets will also be available.
