With Britney Spears all but officially signed on for season two of the Fox reality show, Simon Cowell is considering after another pop sensation to fill the other vacant seat at the judges table: Miley Cyrus!

News that the teen idol is one of the names being discussed as a possible judge. Another name in the running? Avril Lavigne, who is no stranger to the Fox show after performing her hit song "Complicated" with finalist Chris Rene on finale night.

While producers might be interested in Miley, however, sources close to the entertainer say no offer has been extended at this time.

In April, E! News exclusively reported that Spears' team had basically agreed to a $15 million, one-year deal. "Both camps were back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee," an insider told us. "That was the big sticking point and now, thankfully, it's been sorted. All they need to do now is work out the smaller points. The fact the money is now set, means that there is nothing stopping this from becoming a reality."

Cowell has been searching for two judges to replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger since he fired them in January. The show is also looking for a new host to take over for the similarly terminated Steve Jones. X Factor is slated to return to Fox in September.

I would LOVE Miley to be on X Factor! She appeals to the youth and she seems to be a great fit for the show. And, this could help with her upcoming era since she's signed to RCA now!

All of this is just Simon hyping up the show. We are used to it in the UK...he even sacked a judge just to promote Britain's Got Talent.

Isn't Miley a bit too young though? She'd be perfect since she's an amazing talent but it's a big step from Hannah to coaching stars older than yourself

She already guest-coached the finalists on season 9 of American Idol, all of which who were older than her. I think she'd do great. It wouldn't be my first choice for her right now, but whatever makes her happy.

Well it will be a great PR boost since all the gen pop. see is a "rebellious teen who dressed in feathers, perched in a bird cage .
