Drake speaks on why he won’t be making ‘David Guetta, Pitbull music’
He may be a regular at the top of the charts, but it appears that Drake isn’t a fan of a fair few of his peers on pop’s biggest platform. In a recent interview with NME, the Young Money superstar expressed his dislike for the club-orientated Euro-Pop sound that currently dominates the mainstream.
“For me, the David Guetta stuff just doesn’t work. I don’t really wanna go there. There’s other artists, that’s their sound. They feel in order to thrive internationally that they gotta do straightforward, four to the floor, David Guetta, Pitbull music,” he said.
On the contrary, he did give props to British producer and one-third of The xx, Jamie xx, whom he has previously stated his desire to work with on his next album. “Look, I really wanna turn the club upside down, but I wanna do it with integrity, with soul,” Drake said.
David Guetta and Pitbull watch out. Rap’s biggest name might just make your sound obsolete.
I guess he means that he wants to be able to make club music without looking like a sell-out or a Flo Rida.

That term is only used when artists make a certain type of music to gain success, not when an artist gains success. Drake hasn't been called one despite having success. We all know why Nicki is called one.

Nicki was already pretty succesful & popular before she started making dance music though, so then by your logic, does that not make her a sell out?
Nobody gives a **** about your integrity & soul when they're trynna ***** pop at the club. I'm all for variety, but c'mon son.
