Long before he dropped "Grenade" or breezed through "Lazy Song," Bruno Mars was known as the "world's youngest Elvis impersonator." Some 22 years ago, that was enough to land him on Pauly Shore's TV show, and in the time-capsule Insider.com clip below, a 4-year-old Bruno teaches the "Weasel" how to boogie like the King.
"Do a couple of the moves real quick," urges Pauly, who's gloriously decked out in a not-at-all-dated purple mesh shirt and pair of cutoff jean shorts.
Bruno busts a few Elvis dance steps and even curls his lip, showcasing a talent that, at the time, had already earned him attention beyond his native Hawaii. Later Pauly tries to impress the youngster with some Michael Jackson gyrations, but Bruno won't be outdone. He out-Jackos Pauly, pulling off a nifty poolside moonwalk.
The funniest moment comes at the very end of the clip, when Pauly tries to gauge the youngster's interest in the bodacious beach babes the MTV comedian has made a career of cavorting with. Mars isn't yet interested in "cones" and "G-strings," but it's just a matter of time.
