American pop singer Lady Gaga will return to Taiwan as promised for a full-scale concert at Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall on May 17, the organizers said Wednesday.
The concert will be part of her Asia tour "The Born This Way Ball," which will feature an Electro-Metal Pop-Opera that tells the story of the genesis of the Kingdom of Fame, Lady Gaga was quoted as saying by the organizers.
The tour will kick off in Seoul, South Korea on April 27 and will include Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand and Singapore and Australia.
The 25-year-old diva visited Taiwan for the first time last July for a free promotional event in central Taiwan's Taichung City.
The mini-concert attracted around 40,000 people, which encouraged the singer and songwriter to include Taiwan as part of her Asia tour.
Ticket sales for the Taipei concert will begin at National Taiwan University Sport Center on March 24.
In an effort to prevent ticket scalping, there will be no online ticketing service and each person will only be allowed to purchase a maximum of six tickets, the organizers said.
Ticket prices will range from NT$1,800 (US$60.8)-NT$12,800, breaking the record NT$12,000 maximum for a concert by American rock band Eagles last year in Taiwan.
Lady Gaga has sold up to 6 million copies of her album titled Born This Way worldwide since it was released in May last year.
So I guess all that talk about hating money at the Monster Ball was a lie, how typical
To be fair, it is most likely her management who have decided on the prices. The 'hating money' talk probably referred to Gaga pulling strings to ensure tickets to the Monster Pit (where available) wouldn't cost any more
