Can a popstar her age find a way to have digital power or will ageism always stand in her way?

‘Give Me All Your Luvin'’ has sold only 407,000 copies in the States so far, while ‘Girl Gone Wild’ opened with 22,000 copies sold last week.

By a large margin, her bestselling digital single is ‘4 Minutes,’ with 2,986,000 copies sold as of the week ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’’ was released. It’s blatantly obvious that Justin is the one responsible for such huge numbers, since he has seven other multi-platinum singles. Her second bestselling digital single is ‘Hung Up,’ with 1,212,000 copies sold. None of her other singles have sold enough digitally for a gold status and it seems like ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’’ will struggle to reach the milestone.

Can she eventually find digital power with music that people want to hear from someone her age or digital buyers just don’t respond to 52 year-olds regardless of music type?

No, the digital concept was just starting to take steam, and didn't really explode until 2006-2007.

No. In '05 only a few songs sold a million copies digitally.

Madonna sold well digitally when 4 Minutes was released. But the fact is, youth buy digital songs and older adults, who are more of Madonna's fan base, buy albums.

Back in 2007 the market was still in early stages of development. It's impressive how 4 Minutes sold 3 mil.

Besides, if GMAYL sold in nice numbers, people would say that it was Nicki's presence, cos she had like 7 multi-plat singles, no?

Besides, Hung Up, a 2005 song, selling over a million is damn impressive.

The music she's been releasing the past few few years has been pretty terrible, added to the fact that her age makes her pretty much unable to connect w/the iTunes generation.
