Concert promoters of Madonna's planned gig at Zagreb's Maksimir stadium on 11 June, have announced today (Fri) that because of logistical reasons the concert has been cancelled.

"Unfortunately in the world of corporate business, decisions are made primarily for the good of the corporation. In this case we could not go below some initial agreements which we had with local partners and take over the logistical duties that were subsequently placed in front of us, namely the manner in which the staduim would be used. Given this, a joint decision was made that it would not be logistically possible to organise the concert in a satisfactory manner, which would not bring financial losses to all parties in the project," said Vladimir Ivankovic, President of the Board of Adria Entertainment.

Those who had purchased tickets would be refunded,reported website Tportal.

The concert was sold-out days before canceling.

No, it's not. U2 held two sold out concerts in that same stadium in 2009 and it has been renovated since then. They had their huge 360 tour stage, a lot of special effects and all and it was great. Madonna could have performed here without any problems. My personal guess is that the concerts was not at all sold out (around 1500 tickets were sold in the first day, which is pretty bad - U2 was sold out the first day and people were waiting in lines to get the tickets). Madonna is not the kind of performer who'll go anywhere unless she's in high demand. And, in my country - she is not.
