Why do they pronounce them like "Jifs". I pronounce it like "Gif" with the G sound.

I have always pronounced "Gif" as "Jif", but that's because my native language is french

except french is my sec language and english mhy third. i never knew it's pronounced Guiff

"Jifs" is really ugly.
I pronounce it like "gifts" (without the 'ts' for singular).

It is correct both ways:
"Giffs" similar to "GI-fts"
AND
"Jiffs" similar to "GEE-nie"
