As the winners at the Academy Awards were making their way into the Governors' Ball ET caught up with them for a few quick questions.
They grabbed Meryl Streep and asked how she felt about winning the award for Best Actress.
She said:
"Sadly… I had been reading the blogs in the awards run-up and I had a fairly full sense of how the momentum was going. I felt that 'Oh, God, half of America is really mad now that I won."
Most people weren't aware of the fact that she hasn't won an Oscar since Sophie's Choice, including the majority of the AMPAS members apparently. In fact, the reminder emails Weinstein sent to THR subscribers definitely played a big part in Meryl's triumph.
Not surprising, all celebrities read blogs and any celeb. who says they don't is a liar. They're surrounded by "yes" people who kiss their ass 24/7, reading the blog sites (and the comments that follow) is the only way for them to get real opinions. I respect her honesty.
Are you kidding. this should have been her 5th oscar. Still pressed she didn't win the oscar for Julie and Julia.
Plus, the audience was roaring when she won the award, was so deserved tbh
Best actress off all time, and the haters will deal

I don't think all the stars read blogs. It is so not important. I know I wouldn't read them if I was one.
I think Meryl was just a little curious about this. I mean it is her 3rd Oscar after all.
The Academy honors outstanding performances, and she is one of the best actresses of all time.
I haven't seen either of the movies so can't make a judgement, but people don't need to be "pressed"
Are they mad Viola didn't win? I can't really think of any reason people would be angry over Meryl winning.
Because The Iron Lady was a piece of ****. The film itself, being a pile of feces that it is, completely drags down Meryl's performance. People don't want to root for a movie that sucks.
While The Help was the surprise "feel-good" movie of the year. Viola's performance was outstanding and every bit as deserving of that Oscar as well. So it's no wonder people were rooting for Viola a little bit more because the movie itself is loved just as much as her performance.
I'm very happy for Meryl but Viola should've gotten it in my opinion. Meryl already has two and is recognized as being the best of the best already. As if she doesn't know. But hopefully Viola will get another great role and opportunity, although roles with such power and and importance aren't really given to minorities
I knew Meryl would win though. I couldn't shake the feeling the whole time watching.
