Cher said herself that the whole thing was blown way out of proportion. What she said was made out to be much more of a dig at Cheryl than what it really was. Cheryl did not take a risk with her either. Everyone followed Cher's journey right from the auditions and she probably received the most hype and anticipation of any contestant from that series. Of course there were haters, but Cher alongside One Direction, were the most talked about acts on that series. Whether people liked it or not, Cheryl made that choice based on what the producers wanted. If Cher had not been chosen for the live shows, I doubt the series would of been the most successful of all UK X Factor. Not only that, but Cheryl ceased keeping in touch with Cher after the series concluded. Goes to show, Cher really didn't mean that much to Cheryl as the media portrayed. Their friendship was fabricated.
