I'm glad she gave a synopsis for people saying the performance had no meaning, even though they never looked for one. If Gaga did this same performace it would have been hailed as a masterpiece.

I agree with this part but at the same time the performance just didn't work for Nicki, I felt like it was just too much going on at once and it came off as just weird and it overall wasn't a good performance to me.

While I get the criticism, I also understand her frustrations. Nicki has always been about creating characters and dialog with her music. A big reason why she became so popular was because she was able to bring so many fun elements to her raps...whether it be hood, girly, gangster, and what have you. This was just an extension of that...I can imagine after the producers told her they need Roman Holiday on the grammys, she thought this would be a good idea.

The messiness comes in the details of the performance. It wasn't finely tuned, and some parts were unnecessary. It needed to be condensed and polished.

To each is his own... But everyone I know outside the blogosphere seemed to love the performance. Gaga's my favorite artists of all time and I'd easily rank that on par with her best performances. It's probably just the shock factor of it all, which is fine I guess because when she does her next theatrical piece people will hopefully be more objective and not so close minded.
