Why are gay men on ATRL often transphobic?

Are you transphobic in real life or is it just internet trolling? Do you consider transgendered people "lessor?" Do you have any transgendered friends in real life?

Do you feel as though gay men must attain this heteronormative standard; like you're a better gay man if you're masculine?

If anything transgendered people need our support more than anything. That's such a difficult life to live and we as gays should be more understanding then anyone.

Yes and it's awful. Gay men on here constantly trash feminine gay men and say that they embarrass our community. It's pretty ignorant and hurtful.

Glad I'm not the only one that sees it.

And yes I agree - transgendered people do need our support. After the fight for equality is over, there will still be discrimination - especially against transgendered people.

As for the feminine thing, I think most gays have acknowladged that this is what they are stereotyped as, and a lot blame them. In my opinion It would probably be a lot easier to become accepted if it wasn't for the more feminine gays. It's not right, but society isn't right.

If it's an act, I agree with you - it's wrong; but if they're just being themselves, then isn't that how it should be?

What makes one transphobic?. I don't consider anyone lessor or anything but I have to be honest that I do find transsexualism a bit weird. No, I don't have any transgender friends.

I'm tired of people grouping homosexuals into some kind of non-existent community or unified school of thought.

There is no such thing as an understanding & accepting "gay community", it's ********.

I demand to be seen as an individual & won't allow for anyone else to represent me, especially a culture that is as superficial, closed-minded, racist, fickle & hypocritical as the "gay community" people love to rant & rave about.

Nobody is there for one another & they treat each other like **** - the trans-hate is a prime example.

So I'd rather not be grouped. My respect for people comes from me being an individual & has nothing to do with my sexuality.

I don't have a problem with people like that, but everyone has little things that bugs them. Guys acting overly-feminine is just one of mine. It also makes me a bit unconfortable, because I know everyone else is probably thinking the same thing. Society is just messed up.

I mean - not being sexually attracted to someone who is transgendered, I can understand. We all have our specific desires.

But to be used as an attack on someone? I think that's wrong; that being transgendered is inherently bad (hence it being used as a diss).

I have a really good MTF friend too from working at Disney World. She's such a sweetheart.

A bit of both, really. I don't dislike people because other people dislike them, it's more like, I feel sorry for them but in a different way.
