Live from Paris, titled En vivo desde París in Spanish-Speaking countries, is the fourth live album by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira. It was released on December 6, 2011 on three different formats including a live CD/DVD, standard DVD and Blu-ray in the U.S. It features performances from the June 13 and June 14 concerts in Paris, France. It has sold over 500,000 copies in 2 months.
Upon the CD/DVDs release, The Sun Comes Out World Tour received general acclaim from most music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic gave the album three stars (out of five). Erlewine said:
"Combining highlights from two concerts performed in Paris in June of 2011, En Vivo Desde París is a live set available as either a Blu-ray, DVD, or CD, all containing a similar program (the CD runs 19 tracks, while the video contains the full 22-song program). Supporting her 2010 album Sale el Sol and, particularly, its hit single “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," Shakira leans heavily on glitzy electro-dance crossovers but finds room for quieter moments, whether it’s a stripped-down cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” or her own “Gypsy,” keeping the momentum running throughout a lengthy set, then bringing down the house with “Waka Waka.” Certainly, the video versions of En Vivo Desde París give a greater indication of the size of the spectacle, not to mention how they emphasize Shakira’s intense charisma, but as an album this envelops you with its energy."
He highlighted the performances of "Why Wait", "Whenever, Wherever", "Nothing Else Matters/Despedida" and "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" as the best performances of the DVD.
I watched the DVD tonight and it was incredible! Shakira did a great job. Everything was amazing. I loved her performance, the stage, the setlist, the lights, everything.
I also have the other 2 DVDs - Live & off the Record and Oral Fixation Tour - but this one got me me good. "Why Wait". "Whenever, Wherever", "Nothing Else Matters / Despedida (Medley)", "Gypsy", "La Tortura", "Underneath Your Clothes", "Gordita", "Sale el Sol", "Loca", "She Wolf", "Hips Don't Lie" were all fantastic.
Let's stan a little bit for Shakira's Live From Paris! Did you also enjoy this live concert as much as I did? What were your favourite parts?
I haven't seen/heard it in its entirety, but I love what I've seen. Gypsy, Hips Don't Lie, Antes De Las Seis, Underneath Your Clothes, Gordita, Sale el Sol... all amazing.
