'Chronicle' Tops Record-Breaking Super Bowl Weekend
The well-received, and highly-buzzed action drama defies all odds and heats up box-office. The found footage sub-genre is estimated to cash in more than 22 million over the Super Bowl weekend, which usually hurts a lot on teenage-targeted movies' box-office, and creates strong word-of-mouth over not only critics, but also regular moviegoers that 15,350 Flixster users have combined to give a 82% approval rating. However, the preternatural woman will try to catch up on the superpower teens in tandem. The Daniel Radcliffe vehicled 'The Woman in Black' will likely to settle in second with only a mere 1 million in short. 'The Woman in Black' is set to score a higher than expected 21 million. The fact that both 'Chronicle' and 'The Woman in Black' finish with over $20 million represents the first time in history two movies have opened above that mark over Super Bowl weekend.

Studios estimations are in. Both 'Chronicle' and 'The Women in Black' have performed exceptionally well

Chronicle is currently in first place with an estimate of $22 million, but that could easily change tomorrow when weekend actuals are released. The sci-fi flick managed $8.625 million on Friday and $10.200 million on Saturday—a 16% increase. 20th Century Fox estimates that Chronicle will bring in $3.175 million today. 61% of the film's audience is under 25 year old, and 55% is male. More than 15,300 Flixster users have combined to give Chronicle a solid 82% approval rating.
CBS Films estimates that The Woman in Black is poised for $21 million during its debut frame. The thriller roped in $8.300 million on Friday and $9.545 million on Saturday—a 15% increase. CBS has Woman in Black pegged for $3.155 million today. 57% of Woman in Black's audience is under 25, and 59% is female. More than 17,700 Flixster users have combined to give Woman in Black a slightly disconcerting 73% approval rating.
