Okay, so today I'm finishing my lab.. My task is to make 2 partitions in my hard disk to install Centos and Windows exp together. It's harder than what it seems because as soon as you install Windows, the mbr gets all ****ed up and favours windows that it will always boot first instead of showing a boot menu for you to choose between windows and centos. This is like my third time trying for this, and I wish that this time is a charm because I'm like 1 week overdue with this lab

Right now, pretty much using linux as my main os for scripting just because everything can be done so fast with command line..

And as of right now... I`m just waiting for windows to finish installing... i have a live centos cd with me, so i can configure grub afterwards.

anyways.. my geeky rant is done for now... until i **** up my installation again

I miss my computer systems course! My geeky problems are mostly programming-related lately. I do wish I knew and was comfortable enough to jump into something that wasn't Windows because the mac terminal has spoiled me!

I randomly found a good deal on newegg, maybe you can find something there too? I know it's rare to find something cheaper than building a computer but you could try. If nothing else, you could always ask friends for parts of their older computers XD

I honestly don't understand the meaning of this thread. Are we talking about video games or phones, or computers?

I assumed it was about Technology, which usually concerns hardware/software-stuff. That can involve computers/phones but I think there's already a Video Games thread? This is all my assumption though.

And yeah, building your own computer is a much more efficient if you are willing for long term use, as supposed to buying an already built that will only last 2 or 3 years, and then you will eventually learn that there will be faster ones than what you already own.

Random info tidbit, Mac is Linux based, meaning the Operating System is and should be Free since Linux is free. I don't know if the Apple OS is free or not, but should be free since it's Linux

Newegg is big in the United State, as well. As for building your own computer, you may be right, but depending on the hardware, it's not that hard to upgrade components on a pre-built computer.

Actually, Apple OS and Linux are both Unix-based but they are different. Linux is an open-source operating system, that is why it is free. OS X is not open-source, thus it is not free.
