There are also up incoming artists like Azealia, etc.

They're still around. It's that their not out in the public. Eve, Lil' Kim, Missy Elliott are working on new albums. Eve is back with Swizz, Missy is with TImbaland, and Kim...idk who she's with again, but they will be back this year. Eve's flow and cadence is incredible
None of these are rapping about anything that actually matters. It irks me when people rap about how "fly" they are, how they're "makin' it rain" or how well they "spit" - bitch if you were confident in your sick flow & luxuries you wouldn't feel the need to brag about it.
The genre has lost all integrity due to the current state of mainstream rap artists & what they feel is important to rap about - getting your dick sucked & watching strippers on poles isn't anywhere near what the essence of true rap was based on.
