I don't think they'll release MOS in the immediate future, but they could've held off on announcing it until they are actually about to release the song. Kind of ruins the surprise when they tell you so soon.

She announced it since someone asked on twitter about the original Made of Stone demo and how it would be cool to see it on a single if MOS becomes a single, then she said that that would be cool then announced MOS as the 3rd single.

That was the right and the smart choice, since it's featured on Underworld wich is the #1 movie this week in US.
This might give a little help for the album sales, although this won't be huge.
And we already know that the album hit will be Lost In Paradise and they're maybe planning it for the end of the year and they'll try everything to put the song on the final Twilight movie. That would help the song become a huge hit in the US. This is def. the fourth single.
And for a 5th single I'd go with The Change or The Other Side. Then, move on to the next era...
