Appearing on ‘Love & Hip Hop’ is a great way to introduce you into 2012 and I must say you came across great on the show, really knowing your craft. What else do you have lined up for the start of this year?

Getting my record company really really going and off the ground. I’m negotiating a brand new deal with my label situation. Also Usher’s album, I’m really excited about working on Usher’s project. [...]
Last month you turned 29 (happy belated birthday). Yourself and celebrity friends (way too many to name) hosted your birthday celebrations at Club Play in Miami. You stated in your video blog that the best moment of that day, was receiving a gift from Usher. Tell us what that gift was and enlighten us to your close relationship with Usher.

Usher gave me a Grammy Statue for Best RnB Vocal Performance for ‘There Goes My Baby,’ which is a song I wrote and vocal produced. I have a Grammy, I am a Grammy Award winning songwriter/producer – I won a Grammy for it but the writer and the producer don’t get an actual Grammy statue, we get a plaque – unless we win song of the year or album of the year. The other categories, we don’t get the statue and it was weird for me, that the vocal producer wouldn’t get a Grammy for vocal production of the year so Usher gave me his. That’s the last one that there will ever be so it’s not like he gave me his and he can even go get another one – that was the last time that, that award would have been given out. So, it meant a lot to me because Usher is my friend, he’s my brother – we are very close. I console him with everything I do, if I sign an artist, anything I do I kinda run it by him, cause he’s a very good friend of mine and he put me onto this business, he introduced me to the game so that meant a lot to me. It was very touching for him to be able to do something like that and be selfless enough to do that. It was the best gift I ever got in my life.
