PIPA is the acronym for PROTECT IP Act (Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft to Intellectual Properties Act). This is the Senate Version of the bill, it's less intrusive but the scope of its damage would still be bad. PIPA came out last Summer while SOPA (also known as E-PARASITE (Ensuring and Protecting American Rights Against Sites Intent on Theft and Exploitation) Act) came out last Fall
