First, Lady Gaga took over Harvard. Next up? Tufts. Yes, you heard it here first: Mother Monster is taking over Boston higher ed.
This semester, Tufts will be offering a class called “Gaga’s Holy Monsters.” Taught by senior Emmanuel Hernandez, the course “will investigate how her work draws on Christian ideas and practices to frame her commentary on issues of gender and sexuality, and how such appropriations may yield positive and/or negative effects.”
The class is being offered through Tufts’ Experimental College, established nearly 50 years ago to give students and faculty the opportunity to work together on equal ground. In the past, the College has offered a course based entirely on the show “Lost,” as well as another called the “History of Punk Rock,” that followed the paths of bands like the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedy, the Stooges and the Ramones.
Which school’s up next? Our guess is Emerson. To be honest, we’re actually a little disappointed they haven’t instituted a course on Gaga yet. It’s really the only logical thing to follow their LipDub video. Check it –

This is really nothing to be excited about. Colleges allowing seniors with specialized concentrations and graduate students to teach classes like this isn't new or rare. I took a class two semesters ago called Evolution of the Music Fan which was a class all about stanning online, especially on Twitter. I'm trying to get out of having to do a senior thesis by co-teaching a PR class about maintaining an image, good or bad, during a breakdown. My planning guide packet consisted of a copy of "For The Record" and a 4 page outline of how Britney, Mariah and Michael all had no PR control during their breakdowns.

But we are talking here about Harvard and Tufts University both recognizing Gaga's Impact and dedicating a full course on her
