They are airing now! Live on Vh1. Normally they are a great indicator for who will win the big awards at the Oscars.

Are the nominations the same as the Oscars?

They are usually pretty close to the same. But if you check the winner's of the Best Movie at this award show, most years the same film wins the Oscar.

Since 2000, only 3 times (2004 (Sideways), 2005 (Brokeback Mountain), and 2010 (The Social Network)) did they not correctly predict the Academy Award for Best Picture.

And boy did the Oscars get it WRONG in 2005

As much as I loved Crash, they sure did. Brokeback Mountain was such a beautiful movie.

Bridesmaids just won best Comedy

+1. I loved Crash also, but EVERYONE knows Brokeback Mountain deserved Best Picture.

I haven't watch The Artist, but I heard it was a silent movie. I'm not here for that

The Artist is a very good film. I thought it was so charming. You may like it a lot more then you think.

Also very happy for The Help cast!! Viola Davis won Best Actress, Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress, and the cast won Best Ensemble

The speech Viola Davis gave during the ceremony was impeccable! She really moved me! She's definitely the front runner for the Academy Awards!

That along with the Martin Scorcese tribute was the highlight of the night! I loved when she was talking about how even though the women The Help portrays had enormous struggles, she was thankful that because of them her grandmother, her mother and herself are here.

I'm here for her winning the Academy Award.

And The Artist looks phenomenal. I'm going to need to see that when it comes to a theatre in my area. Glad to see Drive and Bridesmaids win, too! And Christopher Plummer. Beginners is my absolute favorite film of 2011.

I wasn't fond of watching Beginners, because it doesn't sound very appealing to me having to watch a gay dad and his straight son, awkward. However, a lot of people seem to recommend it! I might just watch it now.

And YESSS, I watched The Help for the second time with my family and everyone loved it, and if I had any doubt Viola Davis deserves The Oscar, now I don't. She SHOULD win, although I think Meryl Streep might take it, cause everyone seems to think they owe it to her.
