OK, I'm just a bit confused by these new rules.

Why was the Madonna / Express Yourself / BTW thread closed?

It's undoubtedly the biggest music news of the day. My twitter feed is EXPLODING, as are the Worldwide trending topics.

And now we can't discuss it on ATRL?

Madonna announced a new album title, and there was no thread about it on ATRL because the Music News rules changed and a mod misunderstood the point of the thread someone opened. Madonna. New album news. And no one here talked about it.

I say, if threads need to be closed, whoever closes the thread needs to give one final post explaining why, which rules it was breaking, etc.

Her announcing the album title should belong in her upcoming albums thread.

All of them? Duh.

It was closed because everyone was trolling Gaga

No but really, all of them? The entire thread needed to be closed for reasons of inaccuracy and because it'd already been posted elsewhere? Was it in the wrong section?

Because the members of this forum can never have a mature discussion.

I think that her album title does count as a headline. The thread could've worked if there wasn't so much trolling in it. Like 1 in 5 posts got warned in that thread.

I wasn't here for the Express Yourself/BTW thread so I can't explain that one... But it was obviously a huge source of flamebait/stan wars.

Because everyone was getting WPs and it'd be a shame to ban half the board over this.

So individual posts should have been warned. There was nothing wrong with the thread as a whole.

The topic was OK. It was OK with the rules. Not a single one was broken.

But the shade in the posts was too much for ATRL to handle.

The thread was inundated with trolling and flamebait posts.

It had ventured into several off-topic tangents, some of which not even concerning the two artists the thread was about.

It was just a mess.

Stand Your Ground was created for that very reason, yet when the thread got closed only 1/10th of the posters migrated there.
