I live in the US, where Madonna's music has seemed like a total non-entity for over a decade outside of her old singles getting AC and HAC airplay.

Recently I was shocked to learn that just 5 years ago, she rocked the world charts with her Confessions singles.



Hung Up - 15 weeks at #1 7M points and still at the top All done with minimal US support.


Hung Up was toppled from #1 by another Madonna song, 7 weeks at #1 with pretty much no US support


You can't ask for a more catchy, radio-friendly, gloriously joyous song than Hung Up. The whole world ate it up - it's in the Guinness Book of World Records as the song that went #1 in the most countries (41). Clearly, demand was there but the US still resisted. Which begs the question: is Madonna done as a dominant radio force in the US, or can she find her way back?

I feel like its been so long that radio will be all over this.. i see so many headlines and radio DJs introducing the song every time its played "The Queen is Back"... coupled with the whole Superbowl thing I think she won't have to worry about radio support in the US. atleast for the 1st and 2nd singles

with the features on the first single, yeah.

I was obsessed with Hung Up and Sorry for ages. I gave them both a listen a few days ago...

I really have a hard time seeing radio playing "Give Me All Your Love" in its present incarnation, but "4 Minutes" went #5 on Pop radio (thanks to Justin), so with Superbowl hype + Nicki feature I suppose it could gain traction.

Unfortunately, it will be hard I think for her to smash again in the US. I'll give her one decent sized hit then a semi-flop single.

Worldwide shell do just fine though.

Madonna is returning with a major Superbowl performance, where she will debut a highly anticipated single that features radios latest hot spot Nicki Minaj (in addition to MIA). Radios are going to eat this up, at least at first. I just don't see the US caring as much after the lead single..unless future singles feature younger + hotter acts.

Madonna hasn't had a solo radio hit since 2002's Die Another Day, so I think that says any and everything about her current relationship with public radio. Even Hung Up barely hit the top 50 on the overall airplay chart when it was released. Madonna is over as a radio staple that being said she could still wind up getting a hit song if she gets a hot feature artist like Jennifer Lopez did with Pitbull and she did back in 2008 with Justin.

That had heavy Justin and Timbaland features.

No problem, and I'll say yes that she still has a chance in the U.S.

Omg imagine her UWC points if the US had been as receptive as the rest of the world.

I don't remember hearing it even once.

I remember those 22 consecutive weeks at #1 in 2009. Was great.

Not sure if her features will help her get radio support. We'll see.

I hope it will. She needs to be back. She has to debut at #1.

Nick Minaj couldn't be more radio friendly nowadays with her singles.

I think it will attain a top five position on the Hot 100, mostly due to strong digital downloads and have a "Hung Up" run on pop radio, so no.

I don't think so. Even with Nicki + M.I.A., it seems like US Radio is very ageist
