Mind sharing what makes Hollywood Records a mess, and what the general consensus on each other major labels is?

I'll answer one of your questions.
As a Hilary Stan, I'll only speak for the **** that she went through with them. They were good for her at the start, and then they decided to cancel a release of another single from the album. Before that, though, they also cancelled a music video (Little Voice) and released a ****** ass live video for it. They released a song for a soundtrack instead, to save money. Then, there were several (3 I believe) songs mentioned from her second album to be released as singles, but they, again, got cancelled. The second single was released to promote one of her films (yet again) and only was a excerpt from the film.
Then in 2005, she was doing her third album when they decided they wanted another album of her. So they put together a lameass greatest hits. A third single was set for that too, and again cancelled.
Things seemed to be going okay for her third album, but then a couple more singles cancelled, and then a rerelease. She then got fed up and left their asses, and they released another ****** GH.
Summary of the label: they don't promote their artists well, only release two singles, and make them release albums pretty much every year.
