Carly Rae Jepsen scores the first Canadian Gold single of 2012 with "Call Me Maybe", after Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber tweeted their approval earlier this week.

Carly Rae Jepsen may not be a professional hockey player, but she has socred a golden hat trick. “Call Me Maybe” has become the first Canadian single of the New Year to go Gold, and it is her third straight single to do so. “Tug of War” and “Bucket” had the same distinction, with Gold certifications in August 2009 and January 2010 respectively. Her latest single from forthcoming album Curiosity is continuing to climb the Canadian Billboard charts, currently at #22. Besides airplay on Canadian radio stations, the song gained international attention recently when Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez gave it a big stamp of approval saying that it was possibly the catchiest song they’d ever heard.
