When are Avril stans going to realize this is not 2004 anymore. Nobody is into her emo-punk Pop rock sound anymore. She's like an overgrown, depressed 13-year old. Not trying to sound hateful, I'm just saying that image isn't marketable in our current industry right now.

GL wasn't "emo-punk" and it wasn't even a record for tweens, except for WTH and Smile that were made to (try to) "repeat" the Girlfriend/TBDT formula, but if failed. WTH had a decent success, but people who loved that song hated the album and viceversa.
GL actually was a step in the right direction, for example explaining her feelings and relationship in a different way that "I hate you, boy" kind of songs. However, I agree she needs to look for another audience, older and more mature, that is. It's not really bad she still has that youthful spirit, but something a little bit more grown up, to attract people on twenties and thirties would be perfect. Her "teenager" days are over, and it would be a mistake to keep focusing on that audience, although she will always have teenagers as fans. But in general she needs to establish a really large and solid fanbase that supports her by attending her concerts, and also by buying her albums (she should easily sell 3-4 millions each album if things are done properly).
Hopefully The Runners helped her to make the appropiate stuff for next album. And hopefully she will choose the right (or at least the best possible) thing for her career...
