TV Guide recently asked “The X Factor” U.S. executive producer/judge Simon Cowell if controversial "X Factor" U.S. judge Nicole Scherzinger will be back for the second season of the show in 2012. Instead of praising Scherzinger and saying that he would like her to be on the show in 2012, Cowell said cryptically, "Haven’t a clue. We change these shows all the time. You listen to the network, you listen to the sponsors."


As I have been reporting for weeks, Scherzinger has been getting an avalanche of criticism from viewers on the Internet who think she is too ditzy and too indecisive as an “X Factor” judge.

Things got worse in December 2011, when many viewers angrily blamed Scherzinger for the elimination of 13-year-old finalist Rachel Crow. There have been countless people who say that Scherzinger should be fired from "The X Factor."

Crow later said in interviews that it took several hours for Scherzinger to stop crying. When an eliminated contestant is consoling a judge who is having an emotional breakdown because of the elimination, that is a clear sign of a judge who cannot handle the job very well. Scherzinger also said in interviews that she was "never prepared" for the contestant eliminations that she had to do on "The X Factor."

It does not help that Scherzinger’s solo career in the U.S. hasn’t exactly resulted in huge hits on the charts. Her first two U.S. solo singles were released in 2011, and they failed to crack the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart: “Right There” (featuring 50 Cent) reached No. 39, while “Don’t Hold Your Breath” peaked at No. 86.

In contrast to Scherzinger, all of the coaches/judges on the U.S. edition of “The Voice” have had No. 1 or Top 10 hits in the U.S. in 2011. Most notably, "The Voice" coaches/judges Adam Levine (lead singer of Maroon 5) and Christina Aguilera had a major international smash hit when Maroon 5 and Aguilera teamed up for the song "Moves Like Jagger," which was No. 1 in several countries. And “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez made a huge comeback on the music charts in 2011 after she became a judge on the show. Lopez’s 2011 dance song “On the Floor” was also No. 1 in several countries.
