Loving this MTV.com piece about how many consider Femme Fatale to be the best album of 2011! Um, I totes agree.
"Quite possibly the best work of her career, Femme Fatale — which dropped in March — is a cohesive, sonically unwavering piece of dance pop. It makes no grandiose political statements, except Spears' pro stance on hot guys and dance clubs, and it certainly makes no apologies for just being a really, really good time... You never count out a femme fatale; they're mysterious and wily, foxy and sexy. And 2011 confirmed the lesson pop culture can't seem to learn: You never count out Britney Spears. She is pop's ultimate femme fatale. Now go dance your butt off — it's what Britney would want." (MTV.com)
My friend Bradley over at MuuMuse also ranked Femme Fatale as the best album of the year, saying:
"From the rallying chants of the Ke$ha-penned “Till The World Ends” to the final heartfelt cries of “Criminal,” Spears’ seventh studio album, Femme Fatale, is a ceaselessly catchy record filled with explosive, surging uptempo cuts (“I Wanna Go”), quirky mid-tempos (“How I Roll”) and racy odes to ex-sexin’ (“Inside Out”) that remain fresh and innovative to this day... Femme Fatale celebrates the very essence of pop music, affirming for the seventh time why Britney Spears is the ultimate pop star of our generation. But she’s Britney (bitch), and none of this should come as much of a surprise. After all, there’s a certain catchphrase I coined from back in the very beginning of the year that will forever ring true… 2011: YEAR OF THE SPEARS." (via @MuuMuse at MuuMuse.com)
It is the best pop album of the year. Every single song is good. It has touches of innovation (in the pop world) and is fresh, and goes quite perfectly with Britney's collection without sounding like everything else she's done--and also not sounding too different.
But I'm glad that Britney is finally getting positive cred.
I don't think anyone should credit MuuMuse or even mention his name, I think he's an awful "reviewer" and has the shittiest taste in music. I hope his website never gets big....:shudder:
Femme Fatale is amazing though. Not #1 album of the year, but it's definitely real good.
