Today marks the eleventh anniversary of Eminem's single "Stan" which inadvertently gave the fans of artists a collective name to call themselves and a group to belong to. Without this song, WE as ATRL (and other lessor sites) would cease to exist. The fans would exist, but we would remain nameless, aside from "fans." But as we all know there are "fans" and then there are "stans."
Although I don't stan for Eminem, he is undoubtedly an icon in the rap game and in the music industry. I am proud to acknowledge and give credit to him for creating such a cultural phenomenon.
So while this day is almost over, let us celebrate fandom, the artists we stan for, the song, and the imminent end of such an amazing year in music!
