Uma Thurman has signed on for a five-episode arc on NBC's upcoming musical series Smash, the network announced Thursday.
Smash follows the page-to-stage journey of a Broadway musical based on Marilyn Monroe's life, from the perspectives of the writers, producers, directors and stars involved. The cast includes Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston and American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee, among others.
Thurman, 41, will portray a famous (but somewhat difficult) movie star who considers starring in Marilyn, the fictional musical within the series.
An Oscar nominee for Pulp Fiction, Thurman is best known for her roles in Kill Bill, Vol. 1 and 2 and Batman & Robin. She will next appear in the big-screen adaptation of the book Eloise in Paris.
Smash premieres on Monday, Feb. 6 at 10/9c on NBC.
