The DL Chronicles is an award winning anthology TV series by filmmakers Quincy LeNear and Deondray Gossett that aired on cable TV in 2007.
The DL Chronicles tells the stories of men of color who by consequence and by choice, live sexually duplicitous and secret lifestyles also known as,The Down Low. The "Down Low" is a slang term for men who identify as being straight, but secretly engage in sexual activity with men. More than just closeted, they do not identify as Gay or Bi-sexual and refuse to be associated with the Gay lifestyle or community.
Not only sexy and provocative, it offers a socially-conscious insight into the lines between sexuality and perceived socially acceptable behavior within communities of color. It provides an unapologetic view of intimacy between men and explores these scintillating stories with honesty and integrity.
It was renewed in 2008 and green lit for a second season but was put on hold indefinitely... eventually silently cancelled.
WHAT WE’RE DOING? For the past 3 years The DL Chronicles has been shelved by its former TV Network, and the fans have been outraged, waiting for years to no avail. Well the wait is over! The series’ RIGHTS reverted back to the creators this Fall, now affording the fans and supporters the opportunity to bring back The DL Chronicles with all NEW episodes! (NOTE: The series will not air on its former cable network, here!TV or OutTV). We are excited and ready to bring you ALL NEW stories, ones that entertain, scintillate, inspire, and CHANGE! OUR PLAN We are raising a minimum of $125,000 in time for the series to enter into production in late January 2012! The DL Chronicles has thousands of fans across the country and thousands more across the globe. The pirated clips and downloads of Season 1 alone are in the hundreds of thousands!. So we know that you are watching and we know that you want to see the stories that will reflect you, that chronicle your lives, but to do this we need your to take ACTION! We believe that the viewing audience has the power to choose the images they want to see. Why should we wait for the networks to continue to undervalue and render us invisible? The funds for this series should come from the people who the series actually impacts. It should come from the thousands of people whose lives these stories portray. It should come from the fans because you have demanded it.
HOW CAN YOU HELP? The goal of this campaign is to raise a minimum of $125,000 for production of the entire new season, 5 half hour episodes. That’s the equivalent of producing a two and a half hour movie for only $125,000! That’s practically unheard of,.. but we live and strive in the realm of infinite possibility. If you decide to help, you can pledge whatever you can in exchange for our awesome rewards (for example, a DVD of the series when it’s completed, your name in the credits, even a cameo appearance in an episode,… the list goes on!). The MORE you pledge, the better the rewards! You can pledge as little as $1 (but don’t be afraid to pledge more… just saying) or $50+ (the cost of a movie ticket, parking, snacks and gas in one day), or as much as $10,000+ (in which case I might have to propose to you).
WE ONLY HAVE 60 DAYS! The campaign has a hard deadline of 11:59pm on DECEMBER 30th If the goal is met by the deadline, your credit card is charged what you pledged (but only then). The DL Chronicles RETURNS will go into production, you get great REWARDS,and thousand more people will get to enjoy one of your all time favorite shows, more importantly YOU! If we don’t make the goal by the deadline (falling even a cent short), your credit card is not charged, The DL Chronicles RETURNS will not go into production, you don’t get any reward(s), and the world doesn’t see zilch. Back to the drawing board… but we have all the FAITH in the world in our fans because its been your undying support that brought us here!
WHERE WILL IT AIR? Our goal is to be sure that The DL Chronicles is accessible wherever a broadband connection is found and a media enabled device is used, broadband enabled televisions, computers, cellular phones, wireless devices (iPad, iPod, Android tablets, etc.) gaming systems, and solid media such as BLU Ray and DVD. Thanks to the world wide web we are no longer confined to our TV sets and channels. We are currently on the precipice of defining our own sources of distribution. We have to begin thinking outside of the box. A film or TV series should not be deemed less valuable or less successful if it is not seen on traditional TV. We can garner the same numbers ONLINE and prove to be as successful if not more.
Our intended distribution avenues are: HD Video downloads (iTunes, Amazon Prime, and more) HD Streaming (Hulu, Xbox, PS3, Youtube, and more) VOD (Netflix, Comcast, Blockbuster, Direct TV and more) DVD/BLU RAY and a planned theatrical tour in select cities!
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT TO YOU? The DL Chronicles was created as a labor of love in 2005. After noticing the absence of men of color in LGBT themed films and television and an absence of LGBT people in ethnic themed films and television, we were inspired to address the void. Furthermore, while witnessing the misdirected attacks and scapegoating of Same Gender Loving men of color in the media during the height of the country’s Down Low hysteria and HIV witch hunt (concurrently during the Oscar success of Brokeback Mountain which was heralded as a great love story and not a scary Down Low one), we wanted to address the topic from it’s sociological and cultural truths and paint a more accurate picture. Armed with less than a few thousand dollars and the support of friends and family, we shot the pilot episode. It was a true independent and guerrilla filmmaking experience. We had no idea that it would grow beyond the confines of our own inner circle and reach national television, win countless awards, and reach across the seas, entertaining, inspiring, and changing lives.

There's a difference between being gay and ****ing dudes. I think being gay is more than just sexuality; it's about an emotional connection as well.
