Lindsay Lohan vs. Pitbull heating up!
Pitbull: LiLo doesn't even live here anymore
Quote:
Rapper Pitbull and the songwriters of his No. 1 hit, “Give Me Everything,” say actress Lindsay Lohan can’t sue them in New York state because she doesn’t live there anymore.
Lohan filed suit in August in New York’s Nassau County, alleging that the song, written by Ne-Yo and Afrojack, disparaged her with these lyrics:
“Hustlers move aside, so I’m tiptoein’, to keep flowin’/I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”
Lohan claimed in her lawsuit that the lyrics caused her irreparable harm, given that she is “a professional actor of good repute and standing in the Screen Actors Guild.”
Legal papers filed this week - and posted on the web site Courthousenews.com - ask to move the case to federal court, a fairly routine legal maneuver. Pitbull, also known as Armando Christian Perez, lives in Florida; Ne-Yo, a.k.a Shaffer Chimere Smith, lives in Georgia; Afrojack, a.k.a Nick van de Wall, lives in the Netherlands; and the various music and publishing companies, including Sony, are based in New York, according to the court papers.
They point out that Lohan’s only connection to Nassau County is her mother, Dina. And, her legal predicament gives the 25-year-old actress “irrevocable ties to California that are likely to keep her there for the foreseeable future,” the court papers say. They then go on to detail La Lohan’s rap sheet.
Lohan’s New York lawyer, Stephanie Ovaida, could not be reached for comment.
