Adele’s vocal cord surgery in Boston called a ‘success’
Great news.
Quote:
Adele’s recent surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital to stop a vocal cord hemorrhage from a benign polyp has been called a success, according to a statement from the hospital.
Nagging vocal troubles forced the British sensation behind chart topper “Rolling in the Deep” to cancel her remaining concerts and promotional appearances through the end of the year. But her surgeon, Dr. Steven Zeitels, expects Adele to make a full recovery from this unique procedure, confirmed hospital spokesman Michael Morrison.
Adele fans worried about the big-voiced singer not touring in 2012 should relax. Zeitels, the director of the Mass General’s voice center, has patched up rock ‘n’ roll superstars from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler to the Who’s Roger Daltrey.
“I got lucky and was introduced to Steven’s (Tyler) doctor who does amazing things,” Daltrey told the Herald this summer after a check up with Zeitels. “My voice is better than it’s been in years,”
Based on the advice of her doctor and voice therapist in the United Kingdom, Adele came to Boston to consult with Zeitels. She ended up receiving the same treatment Tyler received in 2006, the same treatment that’s given Tyler five years of vocal health.
