Another one?
Bret Michaels is doing something tonight he has never done before. Hmmm. What could that possibly be?
"This could go a lot of ways!" he laughed, just seconds into our Altoid-munching interview inside Hard Rock Live Orlando's green room.
The thing the rock star hasn't done before Saturday night is pretty special. For the first time, his band Poison is putting on a concert benefiting the Down Syndrome Foundation of Florida.
"My aunt is affected with a mental handicap, you know. And for me to be here tonight and make music for such a great cause ... it's amazing."
Michaels is constantly thinking about last year's near death experiences, including a brain hemorrhage and a stroke.
"Honestly, I feel really, really good," he said. "It wasn't my time to go, so I thank the Higher Power. You know, it just wasn't my time to go, so I don't ever take anything for granted."
He got his first dose of reality television experience on VH1's "Rock of Love." He told us about two TV projects in the works, "Something to Believe In" and "A Star is Reborn."
"[A Star Is Reborn] is really music driven. But it's about real artists that really worked hard and may have not gotten a second chance to make a really big hit. I'm thankful 25 years through many battles - ups and downs ... I'm a guy who's a dreamer and then I found that in the music business for me, the real fight after you make something and create music, the real fight is actually turning it into something, and surviving."
Out of all the "drunken ridiculousness" that was "Rock of Love, " which moment still shocks the heck out of him?
"The one that was most insane was Louisville on the start of "Rock Of Love" tour bus, which I brought with me, by the way. But the "Rock of Love" bus, when we went on there ... we're partying, and we get done, and the girls go over to this bar that's an open bar to the public. And two of them literally were doing shots from an area ... Put it this way, I've seen a lot of things in my life - I've seen them on the bus or in different places - but on a bar, that was insane."
Don't think just because Michaels proposed to his long time girlfriend that "Rock of Love" is dead. He revealed a new adventure he might explore.
"The next one is going to be called "Rock of Love Boat." We're taking it to an island. It's like Fantasy Island meets Love Boat, only "Rock of Love."
Check out our entire interview this week on Central Florida On Demand, Ch. 300 and Tampa Bay On Demand, Ch. 340. Michaels gave me something to consume during our interview that was really quite delicious.
