If you love someone, then you automatically respect that person. On the other hand, if you respect someone, it doesn't always mean that you love them.

Being loved, since I'm guessing that'd lead to respect as well.

That's childish. There are going to be people in this world that you don't like, for example; your boss. I hope It doesn't mean that you won't repect him/her.

Right, unless we're talking the highly specific case where you're in love with someone who you know you shouldn't be in love with, and you don't respect them?

Respect is nice to have but I'm not one of those people who naturally command respect in real life just by the way they behave, regardless of accomplishments. As long as I'm satisfied with myself, and the people I care about much respect me, that's all I need. So, overall I'll go with love.

I was referring "by people" in both cases . Loved by people or respected by people?. I'm going to change the title to avoid interpretation problems.
