A popular Ohio high school gym teacher has been sentenced to four years in jail after a judge rejected her insanity defense and convicted her on 16 counts of sexual battery for sleeping with several of her former students.
Stacy Schuler, a former gym and health teacher, had sex with five former students, some of whom were football players, at the school in suburban Cincinnati, where she taught since 2000. During her trial, which ended Thursday, Schuler's lawyers defended her actions with explanations ranging from her vegan diet, the use of the antidepressants, blackouts from alcohol and even irritable bowel syndrome, claiming it rendered her unable to determine right from wrong.
Although several students testified on her behalf, the decision to reject the defense prompted some tough words from the judge hearing Schuler's case, who said it would be a "magnificent leap" believing she had no idea her actions were wrong.
"This is a noble profession that you have, and I've heard a lot of good things about you, but I know that you had the opportunity, as all teachers do, to affect the lives of our children," Warren County Common Pleas Judge Robert Peeler said. "You crossed a line."
Parents of the victims also had harsh words for the woman who was once considered an inspirational educator at Mason High School.
"She groomed these boys, she took advantage of their vulnerabilities she crossed the line and it is unacceptable," one of the victim's mothers said.

After an anonymous tip earlier this year, Schuler, 33, was arrested for inappropriate activities with students, which included providing them alcohol and marijuana and having sex with them at her home.
Five of Schuler's former students testified that the popular teacher had been drinking when she initiated the sexual contact. Most of the boys were 17 at the time; although the age of consent in Ohio is 16, it's illegal for a teacher to have sex with a student.
"We had no idea that this was going to happen, and we're like what is going on? We think she wants to have sex with us," one of the victims said in court. "She started giving us all back massages. She like gave us all each individually … we all took our shirts off and she was just rubbing down our backs."
Schuler, who did not testify at her trial, pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, with her defense team arguing that her mental illness and a mix of anti-depressants and alcohol impaired her ability to tell right from wrong. She claims to have no memory of the incidents.
"The combined effects of the use of Zoloft and moderate to heavy alcohol consumption are consistent with abhorrent behavior described as well as the memory lapses," Harry Plotnick, the defense team's toxicologist, testified.
The prosecution claimed that Schuler knew exactly what she was doing, and even how she would protect herself if she ever caught.
"She told me that if anybody ever found out that she already had her defense planned out and she would try and say that she was insane," one of the students said in court.
One of the victim's fathers testified at the trial of how his son was negatively affected by Schuler's actions.
"He suffered from depression, loss of motivation … almost didn't go to college -- he was angry at home and he didn't want to be around family or anyone -- my son was not who he used to be," the father said.
It took the judge 45 minutes to make his decision to convict Schuler on 16 felony counts of sexual battery and three misdemeanor counts of providing alcohol to minors.
Although Schuler declined to comment on her own behalf after her sentencing, she cried as she was handcuffed and led out of the courtroom, The Associated Press reported.
Sentenced to four years in jail, Schuler will be eligible for parole in six month, but she will be labeled a sexual offender and required to register her address every 90 days for the rest of her life.

Take advantage of? That is such an outdated theory to me. I can’t speak for anyone else, but when I was 16 years old I would have dropped to my knees for my Business teacher at the drop of a dime had he had allowed it. You were a teenager once, maybe you still are now and i’m sure there is some teacher you’ve had private sexual fantasies about. I’m in no way condoning the action of sleeping with underage children, if the child is 15 or under I feel like the adult should be brought to justice. But 16 is the consent age in some states and 17 and up is basically grown up for males, especially since most start having sex around 16 anyway. I’m strictly speaking for female teachers and male students, or male teachers and male students, call me a hypocrite or call it a double standard, but I don’t think male adults should be screwing girls under 18, it’s just different to me, because she can get pregnant and if she does there goes her life.
The thing with female teachers is, most of the time it’s the male student who started the attraction anyway, and yes she is an adult and should be able to conduct herself like an adult. But if you have this attractive, LEGAL, consenting guy flirting continuously with you, there is only so much one can take before they give into the lust. Apparently Stacy (the latest female teacher charged) slept with five male students, some of them on the football team. I believe they were all of the age of consent in her state, but sleeping with a student is illegal which is why they wanted to give her 10 years. I find that not only ignorant, but a waste of tax payers money, and a waste of time. If she slept with those five boys and they didn’t complain about it or go their parents then obviously they liked it, to keep a sexual relationship going. I was very angry to watch their parents make her out as a monster in court like she took advantage of those young men, and they were emotionally scarred from having sex with a grown woman. It’s also ironic how they never told anyone, and yet their parents act like the children aren’t at fault as well. She didn’t rape them, they had sex with her willingly because they were attracted to her and wanted some ass.
I took some time to look over past cases in which female teachers were charged for sleeping with male students, and it seems like the boys are almost always 16 or over and willing. Some of those women have gone to jail for 10 years and other ones got off with a slap on the wrist. The hot blondes with beautiful blue eyes, and great figures walked free, while the older women who didn’t look like a fantasy got time in jail, and that seems to be a recurring factor in these cases. It really bothers me as well when these families go on in court about this destroyed their family, THAT IS SOME ********! Stop acting like she ****ed him in front of the house while his 4 year old sister watched or something. How the hell is your family destroyed from your horny son having sex? Everyone is dying to be politically correct all the time when in reality they are all ****s when the lights go out. SEX is apart of being a human and Americans have it lucky compared to some countries where girls are married off to grown men before they even bleed for the first time. Young boys like to ****, they want to *** and they will *** anyway they can, so their parents need to deal with it, those boys aren’t innocent angels. Everyone is innocent in my opinion, they had sex and that is that!

I'm fine with teenagers having sex as long as they're over the age of consent (actually I'd be in favor of lowering the age of consent in most states, 18 is just way too old, I think 15 would be fine or 16 if you have to) but having a sexual relationship with your teacher is just asking for all sorts of trouble.

Regardless of who made the first move, the ADULT in the situation shouldn't have let it go any further.
Granted, A sixteen may be well aware of the choices they are making but so does the fully fledged adult and if you want some dick, go get some from someone your own age.

The teacher gets validation for her youthfulness and attractiveness, the student gets the feeling of being mature and wanted and living out an ultimate sexual fantasy. Win-win situation for both, but undoubtedly something like this will get real messy real quick.

I just turned 16 so I can participate. 
There are so many teachers I would open my legs for and even a few I would open their legs. So the guys want it, and the teacher wanted it. The feeling is mutual. I feel like it shouldn't happen for the most part, until they done with high school. It is kind of creepy to think about teachers ****ing students. It's weird. But I for the most part, I would **** a few of my teachers. It's creepy and shouldn't happen, but I mean if I like it and they like it, what can we do?

While true that it's consensual and the boys were of age, it's still crossing the line. Parents aren't sending their children to school for their educators to make them bust a nut after work. How one can argue against something so borderline perverted and wrong, I'll never understand.
Jail is a bit much, since she didn't rape them or anything..but state laws are state laws. I'd say losing her job would be enough.
EDIT: Oh I'm just seeing the second(?) news article. She gave them weed and alcohol?
