Classism and racism in your country?
Is classism or racism a big problem in your country?
are you classist or racist?
is classism as bad as racism?
The classism has always been a big issue in my country. If you're part of a certain family or you have a "pretty" last name you will have better oportunities to get a better job. Since college education is more accesible for middle class or poor people now, the rich people discriminate for the school they were when they were high school students. I think it's really stupid but it happens everyday in my country.

Classism and Racism will always be ongoing issues in America.
We've just move on to different forms of racism and classism than that of the past.

I agree. America may have a sick ass history in regards to race, but there's no institutionalized racism or classism here anymore. Just ignorant people congregating with like minded losers, and they tend to be of the lower inbred class anyways.

I was utterly shocked how racist people were when I went to Germany and France.
My black friends with me in Europe were from North Carolina and they said they never experienced such outright racism until they went to Europe.

Classism is slowly shifting to the forefront IMO.

In 2011, classism and racism are for more subtle and far less blatant.
We've adopted a more psychological form of racism and classism that results in us remaining isolated from other races, completely ignoring other races, alienating other races under the guise of personal beliefs.
It's very underhanded but just as effective as the loud and in your face forms of racism and classism.

I've heard the racism in France is really bad. But I thought Germany learned from their mistakes

Would you elaborate? I'm not being a smart ass, I'm just really curious to know what it is that makes you feel that way.

Really? The US Constitution was essentially designed to protect the interests of the elite colonist class. They engineered the US "Revolution" in order to consolidate their power, operating under the guise of "human rights".

They're pretty big issues here in South Korea.
For the longest time Koreans had a mindset that they're "purebred" and superior to other ethnicities, but as time has gone on that belief has faded, though it's still evident in some ways today. Of course there are still people who believe that, but it's much less common now than it once was. Racism, however, is still very prevalent. Many white, black, and non-Korean Asian people live in Korea and they're hardly ever discriminated against, but Koreans have a huge issue with biracial people and biracial relationships. In fact, biracial people weren't even allowed to serve in the Korean military until earlier this year. Lots of Korean people feel uneasy around biracial people and are hesitant to talk to them, let alone get to know them, be friends with them, date them, etc. Seeing as I am biracial, it is a huge issue for me internally. I'm lucky, though, since my features are very Asian and no one really knows I'm biracial unless I tell them. Regardless, the whole thing doesn't sit well with me, especially since I find biracial relationships and biracial people to be a beautiful thing.
While this doesn't exactly constitute as a form of racism, foreigners as a whole are often treated more harshly and rudely than normal Korean people. Again, since I have Asian features (almost Korean, tbh), no one really knows I'm not Korean unless I tell them so it's not a problem I have to deal with. The Korean government is known for being much less helpful to foreigners than they are to Koreans as well.
Classism is also an issue here. It's not that huge of an issue at the moment, but about 2 weeks ago there was a huge Occupy Wall Street protest here in Seoul, my city, so the development of an anti-classism and "anti-1%" movement is definitely on the rise.

I wouldn't say racism is a huge issue in France, but to be honest, I could be wrong, seeing as I've only visited the country and have never lived there. My experiences, though, have showed me that French people are very rude to foreigners and have a French elitist attitude, much like Korea.

One of my friends once was followed around a German park by a creepy old man who kept yelling "Affe! Affe!"

To say institutionalized classism and racism don't exist is major reach. It may not be as crippling to minorities as it was before but it is very much alive.
As for the lower class inbred, they're not the only one still clinging to classism and racism. Quite a few educated, liberal-minded folks can be just as ignorant. They're just more passive about it.

I'm so not here for the philisophical spin you're trying. I want to know specific instances, examples, or practices, hidden or outright, that make the United States a racist and classist nation. That's a pretty big statement to back up and i don't see any supporting evidence for that claim.
Maybe Americans here don't understand that in some countries both race and class still determine what you can do in life and how far you can progress. This certainly isn't the case here.
