Grammy-less legends + iconic songs that didn't go #1
Who are some artists who are now considered legendary/iconic (or who are at least remembered) who didn't win any Grammys during their lifetimes?
And what are some iconic, remembered songs that didn't go #1? And I don't mean Bad Romance, Dynamite or Airplanes , I mean songs like Thriller, Bohemian Rhapsody and Express Yourself.
What are some examples that show neither awards nor charts are necessarily an indicator of who/what will be remembered?
Diana Ross was kind of blacklisted because her manager kept INSISTING she win awards and they kind of shaded her to spite him. Other legends may have lost to other heavy competition who are also legends and that's something people forget when saying who never won.
Michael - Thriller didn't go #1 which I will never understand. Every single from MJ's Dangerous album should have been #1 IMO. That album was just amazing and only had one #1. Scream didn't go #1. Human Nature, PYT...Smooth Criminal, the list goes on and on for MJ.
Mariah has so many songs I wish went number one, like 'Cant Let Go' and 'Make It Happen' from Emotions.I'd be here all day with Mimi so I'm just gonna stop now, lol
Coldplay - Clocks, In My Place, Yellow, Trouble, Talk, Speed Of Sound, Paradise, etc. I can't believe they've had only ONE number one.
