Do some research , Britney was i.m.o more influenced by Janet jackson than she was by Madonna.Britney has NOT outsold Janet Jackson . Infact Janet's catalouge has not been re-certified for over a DECADE. Britney is her own person but i will definitely say she "WAS" the janet jackson influenced proto-type of her generation . no offense but Janet can still do hard choreo at 45 years old.Some people on this forum or so naive or ignorant when it comes to knowing about the "legends" .

I honestly NEVER saw Britney Spears as Madonna, I've always seen Britney Spears as Janet Jackson. Britney Spears is still the Queen of Pop, but her influences seem more HEAVILY Janet Jackson, instead of Madonna. So yes, Britney Spears is the Janet Jackson of our generation and if she was still performing the way she was in the prime, she would be the Michael Jackson of our generation. I just feel Britney Spears at her prime was the best performer in the world.

At the start of her career, yes, Britney was heavily inspired by Janet, but she eventually developed her own sound & image that set her apart from her idol.
