Show bosses have already proved they have no problem getting rid of their stars if they don't think they have the X Factor.
And if reports today are to be believed, host of the US version of the show, Steve Jones, is in danger of becoming the next victim if audiences don't start warming to him soon.
Producers are understood to be considering hiring a new co-host to assist the Welsh presenter, 34, in the live shows after Nicole Scherzinger left Jones' side to take up the vacated judges' seat when Cheryl Cole was unceremoniously dumped.
A few names rumoured to have been approached include So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley and Khloe Kardashian.
Another personality suggested by the magazine is E! News presenter Giuliana Rancic, however given her news today that she is to undergo surgery and treatment for breast cancer, it is unlikely the 36-year-old will be taking on extra work.
Having appeared in every episode of the season may not stop show producers from changing up the hosting situation, or giving Jones the axe.
As fans well know, Cheryl Cole had appeared at three lots of auditions before being told she had been let go in favour of Scherzinger.
Jones was doing his best to drum up some publicity yesterday, making an appearance on Extra in the Grove.
A spokesperson for the X Factor USA said: 'Everyone thinks Steve is doing a really great job, rumours to the contrary are totally untrue.'
I do love Cat, but it would seem so awkward for her to co-host this. She's basically the 'So You Think You Can Dance' staple, so when I think of her I think of that show. But who knows, if she does get it, it could ultimately work out for the best.
This show is a complete mess and nothing more than an ego trip gone wrong for Cowell. I knew it would fail in the ratings, out of the big 4 reality singing competitions in America (America's Got Talent, The Voice, Idol, X Factor) it's the least popular, it has been a disaster for Cowell. But then again this is the man behind the record label with the worst A&R team in the business.
