I remember when it used to be Beyoncé vs Ashanti instead of Beyoncé vs Rihanna.. Ashanti's first week album sales (can't remember album title) were a bit higher than DIL, and so many people were saying that Beyoncé was a flop and that Ashanti was the more successful/talented one of the two. Look at where they are at now. I mean, where is Ashanti even today?

Ashanti was the one to knock Beyonce off the top spot and stayed two weeks on top. Beyonce ended up with a 4x Platinum album, while Ashanti only saw a platinum-certified album.

That makes me think that some pretentious Gaga's stans were saying in the chart thread that DIL's sales were not impressive for a RnB album released in 2003. That is was so common to go above 4M and now I just find out that Ashanti's first album is still only platinum...

Ashanti's debut album actually sold a little over 3 million (it was her second album that only went platinum), but DIL's sales were definitely impressive, especially for a debut by a lead singer from a group. I think people forget that DIL was in the top 5 of the best-sellers that year, and it was released during the summer.

She's coming out with a new album soon!
