The Someone Like You singer told the audience while performing at the city's Hammersmith Apollo earlier this week that she will have to play larger shows from next year.
Talking to the crowd, the 23-year-old said: "Do you like seeing me in small venues like this one?"
Her question was well-received with a huge applause but then she added: "This is the last time you'll catch me at a venue like this. These will be my last theatre dates as I'm moving on to arenas. I'll be at the O2 in February."
The reception wasn't great with boos and jeering from the crowd, to which she laughed and said:
"Too many people want to see my shows, I have to. Don't worry, I'll still get into the crowd and everything. You know I don't like all that arena s**t!"
Adele's upcoming tour plans are expected to be announced shortly, although the singer had told Rolling Stone that she had previously turned down the offer of arena shows.
The success of 21 is obviously taking its toll!

Honestly it was bound to happen. Of course smaller venues are better but there's just too much demand for Adele tickets. I tried to see her at the Shepards Bush and it sold out in seconds
