Basically: I want to know if people have seen both versions and if they think the Japanese version is better?

I watched The Grudge for the first time in years the other day and it was nowhere near as scary as I remember it being (and Sarah Michelle Geller's acting was poorer than I remembered, too), so I watched the trailer for the original and I **** myself about 2 seconds in - is the Japanese version worth watching if I don't find the American version scary? Or is the American version better? Discuss..

I'm always watching asian cinema, and it annoys me when people think just because it's an asian film, it's a masterpiece. There are asian remakes that are scarier/better, and some that are bad. I haven't seen the asian one so I can't judge. :P Also, I would really recommend this:

Omg. That remake was just I'm a fan of remake film, and I always hate when people say "oh the remake suck watch the original!!!" But that is one movie where I WILL say that.

I remember when i saw the american version (few years ago)and I actually laughed the inteir movie BUT only recently I stopped having nightmares with her because I "used her" for my bloody mary video

Thiss. This is why a lot of people dont 'get' Scream 4.
And yeah, the second was good until Sarah died, then it went downhill.
