Why is popularity so important? Whether it be in school, work or music industry why do people look to put you at the top but when someone new comes along they're willing to knock you out? I know why but i wanna hear your opinions.
The way I see it, we have two kinds of popularity. Some people just are sweet and have a natural charisma that takes everyone, making it impossible for people not to like them. These people become popular naturally because they have those thing on their favor and people like them, but there are the other kind of people that become popular because they want spotlight. therefore, they will do anything to become popular and call people attention. These ones probably need popularity to fill some kind of void they might have in their lives.
In music it's pretty obvious though. Popular artists sell records and unpopular artists flop.
for most normal people after high school popularity means nothing.
Hell, it meant nothing to me even during high school. All I hoped for was to not be the favorite punching bag of my schoolmates, didn't give a damn about being known to everyone.
I'm in college right now and I still feel the need to be liked. I dont really have any friends here and it's hard for me. I dont wanna seem like the dork ya know? In plus I dont wear the coolest clothes, and I'm not that pretty ;/
ATRL is not the place to say this. Some members fest on things like this.
College is much bigger than high school. It's really hard to try to be popular there, at least from my perspective. I didn't know half of the folks names' I took classes with because of the environment.

It's better to get to classes early, imo. I find it easier because I hate walking into a full class with everyones attention on me as soon as I walk in. You just KNOW their judging you.
Humans have a natural need to be wanted and liked. To me it's not important. It just becomes a hassle to be liked, to become friends with everyone ect. When you are popular, you are over exposed and you will have fake friends or people that will want to be your "friend" for ulterior motives and yet they don't like person that they are friends with.
I rather have real friends and not be popular. I'm in college and I don't care if people don't me.
