To celebrate the 2011 Video Music Awards, we asked Billboard.com readers to pick the best performances in VMA history -- and not surprisingly, pop megastars including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga came out on top of the tally. Well, we camped out on the black carpet on Sunday and came away with similar picks. Stars, they're just like us!
Some celebs -- Lil Mama, J.C. Chasez and Tyga included -- were initially stumped at the request to pick a fave, but others had a good idea. Kreayshawn picked your No. 4, the "old school Britney Spears and Madonna one, when they made out." Same goes for "Jersey Shore" star Snooki, Victoria Justice and Shanell. Britney's 2001 performance of "I'm a Slave 4 U" (No. 2 in reader poll) also got some love from JoJo, Kat DeLuna, Nayer and Kevin Hart.
Nirvana, Eminem and Lady Gaga's bloody version of "Paparazzi" (No. 3) also has ranked high.
I skimmed the 2nd paragraph , not fully comprehending it but, yes The whole "Real Rock&Roll is gone music is dead" act is getting old, almost to the point of becoming a cliche. My respect for them (Foster the People) rose when they joked about transitioning into hip-hop instead of being so pretentious about it.
pretty much half of them mentioned either britney & madonna kiss, britney's slave or britney's oops performance
britney is THE vma when it comes to memorable performances (including 2007)
fans spam-voting for michael or gaga on billboard polls means nothing.
Not even close, that belongs to Michael Jackson. I actually don't think Britney is the Queen of the VMAs, that title belongs to Madonna, but Britney is THE FACE of the VMA's. If that makes any sense to some.

Those people named the oops performance not the slave performance
The Britney/Madonna performance is by far the best/most memorable performance at the VMAs EVER.
and DEAD at the guys from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy being invited to the VMAs. My lord, I'm just watching that performance again right now and the people at the show have me remembering so much about 2003. That seems so long ago!
