EXCLUSIVE: Ciara Leaves Jive Records

After months of speculation and public label drama disputes, R&B singer Ciara has officially left Jive Records, we can reveal. The star’s name and imprint have been removed from the label’s rooster page on the official Jive website indicating that she is no longer with the label.
Rumors surrounding the star’s move to L.A. Reid’s “Epic Label Group” during the shake up at Sony Music Entertainment went in to over drive today after the star tweeted,
@Ciara: One of the best days of my life has just happend..#FAITH
Ciara’s label move comes after the disappointing commercial performance of her recent album “Basic Instinct” which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 44 selling just 37,000 units in its first week. The labels reluctance to send the singer’s singles to radio stations and to release music videos for the project caused tension and resulted in Ciara publicly denouncing the label and expressing her desire to leave.
On her desire to change labels, the star was recently interviewed by the BoomBox in which she was quizzed about her move to “Epic Label Group”. She revealed,
“I don’t even know what you’re talking about [laughs]. Nah, I’m totally just playing. I think you have to ask L.A. kinda what’s going on. I can’t really comment on what’s happening and the system. I cant really say too much. I dont really know too much about the breakdown of everything.”
Ciara has a lot of talent both as a singer and as a dancer. Let’s hope her new label respects that and gives her the success that she deserves.
