Today, August 25th, marks the tenth anniversary of Aaliyah's untimely death.
Despite being just 22 when she died, Aaliyah had been in the industry for 10 years, having first been signed to Blackground Records at the tender age of 12.
In her career, Aaliyah released 3 albums, all of which went multi-platinum in the US. Worldwide, she sold more than 35million albums!
Aaliyah also made history when "Try Again" became the first song ever to reach #1 on the Hot 100 based solely on airplay.
She (and 8 others) died in a plane crash in the Bahamas, after shooting the music video for Rock The Boat. They had scheduled to fly back to the US the following day, but filming finished early...
I always wonder what if she hadn't finished early and had stayed the extra day
Anyway, in honour of the anniversary of her death I thought it would be nice to share everyone's favourite memories/songs/videos/performances of hers, or simply say why you liked her.
Billboard did an article featuring several artists talking about Aaliyah:
