The band began work in May 2011 in their Las Vegas studio on their next album. In a Q Magazine interview in July, Flowers stated that

The band has written six new songs for our new album so far, which is tentatively titled, "Battle Born."
I think we want to get back to the music that is really us," the singer explained of the feel of the new material, adding that recording in Vegas was not only inspiring their music, but it was having an impact on their lyrics too.
I am writing about the world that I really know," he declared of the songs so far which currently includes a seven-and-a-half minute epic called The Slot Tech.
The band also performed a new song at the London Scala on June 23rd, called "The Rising Tide". Brandon stated that the song still was raw, and that the band was unsure if the song could make it on the album.
The new song sounds like a Brandon Flowers song rather than a Killers song and so did their latest christmas single. This album better goes back to their roots (aka Hot Fuss, their BEST album to date!)

Sounds like ****, but I'll judge when we get the CD. I hope they go away from the Day & Age sound.
