MOBO= The Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards, established in 1995 by Kanya King MBE and Andy Ruffell, are held annually in the United Kingdom to recognise artists of any race or nationality performing black music.
Amy Winehouse 'set for posthumous honour' at MOBO Awards
Amy Winehouse is set to be remembered with a posthumous honour at October's MOBO Awards.
The singer, who was found dead at the age of 27 at her London home last month, enjoyed success at the awards in 2007 when she was named best UK female artist after Back To Black became a smash hit.
She was also nominated on a number of other occasions and MOBO organisers are keen to make sure her passing is marked at the ceremony in Glasgow on October 5th.
Several ideas have apparently been discussed, including a special award and performances of her hits by artists such as Jessie J and Katy B.
An insider working on the awards show told the Daily Mirror: 'In many ways Amy began her career at the MOBOs. Even before she was famous she would perform acoustically at their launch parties.
.
'We are working out a way for her to be remembered during the show itself in terms of artists performing her songs and it's quite possible there will be an award.'
