She would still be successful, those weird costumes just garner more attention, but if she goes back to the pre-Monster /Born This Way era, she can still be successful. And GaGa can look pretty if she wants to... see: Poker Face era.
She'd still be a successful songwriter and maybe singer as well.
But I'm tired of hearing this question. If you took away all of the helmets + shoulder pads from a football player, would he still be just as successful??? HELL ****ING NO!!
Hmm, successful? Possibly. AS much of a cultural figure? No, I doubt it. The outfits got her a lot of attention right off the bat, which served as a good launching pad (just like Britney's sexualized teenage virgin image was for her). Now, if nobody liked her music, it would be a moot point.
